Re: Yasora Art
Well I'm glad that it generally works!
Yeah, I can take the little tie out. (I have a tendency to draw stuff that just don't make sense...)
ACK! My art style is a curse!
You should see my twenty-four year old character! She looks sixteen...

Re: Yasora Art
I drew cory's design with the tie/bow out. and then I realized that there was trimming on the sleeves! DX I already scanned it... I'll post it here tomorrow.

Pfft, are u kidding? You have a very amazing and unique style, clean line art, and the characters expressions are really cute.
And I definitely like how the character's personalities show more in your style, both in pose and expression.
Great job! (ppsstt--> do more) xD
Wish this was the official style for the series! xD *goes to watch you on DA*
Also my sister is 25 and she looks like she's 16~ So its all good and convincing to me. xD
Re: Yasora Art
Thank you so much Neon!
Stuff like that makes me feel a little better about how much time Iwaste spend drawing.
Anyway...
Here we have that little tweak of the bow issue.
And, if colors are unsatisfactory (since I really put no thought into them) here is the lineart in case anyone has ideas on how to improve the color scheme.

Oh man I love ur drawing style!! So kawaii!!!!
Well... here's Cory's design without the bow and (by accident) without the trimming on the sleeves.

Re: Yasora Art
I love the design -- hair, face, clothes, all -- I just don't think anyone will believe that chick is 14.
Might I suggest:
Slightly smaller eyes (big eyes on a small face usually means "small child")
A more slender body, with a slight (SLIGHT!) increase in breast size, perhaps even a waist? This girl does not have one.
A longer neck.

Re: Yasora Art
heh, my guess would be Cory's, but I can see her tips being applied to both of them.
Cory's pic looks like a young Yasora, Danielle yours looks more 14ish.
- Increase in breast size, perhaps even a waist?
yea, give something for the guys to look at! lol *thinks back to our skype chat about big breasted anime women.
is voluptuosity a word?
However, both are very nice, far better than I could ever draw.

I'm talking about Cory's. Yasora needs a few "adjustments" to be 14. Let's be professional here -- I'm not talking huge boobage, I'm saying a girl that age would've gone through puberty. The body design that Cory drew is phenomenal, but it's too "dollish". Yasora needs a waist tuck, small breasts, and slightly smaller eyes (as a child ages, the face gets bigger as the eyes stay the same).
I'm not saying it doesn't look great, because it does. It's just too young. It would be perfect for 9-year-old Yasora, though.

Re: Yasora Art
I understand completely Sweetalker, thanks for your imput.
I was a bit too focused on the outfit design that I overlooked how Yasora herself needed to appear age-wise.
(I also have a bad habit of avoiding curves like the plague...)
Here's another shot at her.
Not exactly a pose that she's strike though. -fail-
Please excuse the sloppy hands and coloring.

Re: Yasora Art
Don't forget that not all girls have... big breasts. XD Maybe Jillian and maybe Yuki can have them... Kienya is more of a flat type and Yasora is kinda average size. idk...

O....M....G.....that is the coolest day dream ever....*tries to have the same daydream but fails*....all well.
Re: Yasora Art
About Yasora's breasts. Oh my.
And there are plenty of girls even my age who aren't quite as endowed in that department. More age doesn't necessarily mean more boobage. Everyone is different.
Let's be mature about it guys. *coughblackjackcough*

(No, I haven't forgotten to comment on Cory's new design. Hold on.)
It really has been thought out ealier. She starts off less developed.NuWatts wrote:Pish. We can be mature here. And I agree that Yasora should definitely start off less developed. It's been pointed out to me that characters like Toph actually began to "develop" near the end of Season 3. Sure it was subtle, and that's good. However, we'll also be able to do stuff like this and subtle have the characters begin to go through puberty.

I think this should be our official Yasora water tribe clothes design...
Re: Yasora Art
*Finally gets on the forums*
Alright Cory, this is definitely better!
And I agree with Kiffer (and it looks like pretty much everyone else, haha). It's a really great design for her!
The colors also look nice. The only color I'm having issues with is the brightness of the green in her eyes. They should be closer to olive: https://avatardod.forumotion.com/final-designs-f112/reference-sheets-t486.htm
Also (I realize this is your style, but...) her feet should be larger.
Just nitpicking here. ^^
Other than that.... it's got my approval.
I've got some question though... and I suppose they're mostly directed toward our animators and coordinators. For our official reference sheets, do we have to keep a consistent style? As far as I'm aware, we're trying to keep the animation as close to the A:tLA style as possible. I'm asking because I would be fine with simply using Cory's art for the ref (after having her refine the coloring and lineart, of course). If absolutely necessary, I could draw some Yasora headshots or sketches to the side (I've been told my style is closer to TLA?).
It just seems a little pointless for me to redraw Yasora simply because I've been covering final designs up till now, especially with the new talent on the team.
Would animators be able to take drawings done in different styles and still be able to create TLA-esque animation from them? I guess that's the biggest question I've got.
Should our artists (for this project only, I'm not saying it should be a permanent change in all your art) work on imitating the Avatar style? Sweetalker posted VERY helpful pages on drawing avatar characters HERE. Regardless of the decision that's made, I'd like all artists to download and look at these pages.
Post on that thread to let me know that you've done so. I guess I'll put this up on the shoutboard as well.
